2nd Day of Pre-Nationals

Life's short, but it is never a steal..Make a run for it, make your life the most wonderful and beautiful it can be..You only have one life, don't you want it to be the best life ever?

Today's the 2nd day we've been at Mobile, Alabama. Well, not exactly the 2nd day because we arrived here pretty late yesterday, and we were exhausted then. Everyone collapsed in their respective rooms straight after dinner. That was at 10pm.

This morning, I awoke at the commotion Kev made. We're roommates, along with !xobile aka Oliver..haha..I thought a new day is waiting for us, and I was looking forward for a nice, sumptous breakfast--a mistake that was unsuspectingly awaiting us.

As soon as we arrived at the breakfast hall, which was located just beyond the reception hall, sheer "amazement" took over. The display of food "overwhelmed" everyone, choices were stretched across a table measuring probably 1.5meter long. 1.5meter, and that's about the only food we had. Even the drinks were limited to juice, milk, tea and plain water. How awful was that? Pathetic hotel with pathetic food. Although, despite the fact the food was plainly horrid, there was a silver lining, or should I say silver dough. Kev and I found the bagels, some bread-like doughnut thingy, pretty appetizing. Haha, I smeared lots of butter over it, and it tasted pretty delightful to my taste buds. This doesn't serve as any qualified indicator of the food's taste, because I basically consume everything. Period. :D and the food portion was very veeryyyyy small, so small that I couldn't even feel food in my tummy after that. Damn..

Yesterday night we went to have a snack at a small,street-side shop called Waffle House. I wasn't sure what to expect, so I bounced off to the place along with the teammates. While we were just heading out, Jonathan and Richard came back from a run along the high way..They were soaked in sweat, panted like dogs, and yet had smiles brighter than the sun--fascinating friends with superhuman determination :p and commitment..hahah..

Then we went to practise with University of Mobile..Or was that University of Southern Alabama..I'm not too sure actually, because we practised at two different venues today. Morning: University of Southern Alabama. Afternoon: University of Mobile. U of SA is pretty nice, located in the midst of lush green tree plantation..At first I thought it was a national reserve or something similar to that, because the landscape was filled with leaf-green trees surrounding the campus, and it stretched for hundreds of meters in radius at least. Which is kinda amazing I think.. They had about 12 courts or so, if my memory serves me right. I didn't do the calculation, but the view of the tennis courts from the parking lot, which was just right beside the tennis center, gave me the impression it had that many courts. Anyways, we warmed up for a few minutes, and Coach Kai called us in for a lil mixed doubles. He called it the "Annual Mixed Doubles Event". I asked Turko whether they had this last year, and he told me this was the first time. I partnered Elaine, and we won 7-1. That's 7 winning matches and 1 loss. Heheh.. We were crowned "Doubles Champions"!!! hahaa..Nothing much of a glorious feat, but fun nonetheless :D

After that, we went home. We crashed on the bed and slept.

3.30pm, we packed our gear and left the hotel for U of Mobile. We played against the team there. They were pretty decent, 1 guy looked like Nadal, but didn't play quite as impressive though. We "smashed" them, and I won my singles 6-1. A bit of a struggle to play as we have yet to acclimatize ourselves. Nonetheless, we won all the matches...

Dinner after that was pretty amazing though. The place had this average name, so I can't seem to remember it. But don't let the name fool you though. Never judge a book by its cover, or in this case its name. I had a total of..........: 2 plates of meat, 1 plate of salad, 1 plate of sweet dessert, 1 plate of icecream, and 1 plate of fruits. Oh, and 2 glasses of drinks. Nicceeeee :D hahaha...I'm full now, and ready to crash. But, I'm still here typing..hahaa..gotta update my blog..Anyway, that's all for now, I'm ready to hit the sack..Tata :D
